DAY 77: Framed

My daughter has decided that she wants to redecorate her room (again!). This time she wants to use pastels.

I thought these crochet frames I saw in Molly Makes magazine would be perfect for her wall. I used their Downloadable templates but used my own technique for crocheting around them. Enjoy!

I printed the templates onto glossy photo paper and using a large needle made holes around the outside as shown:

I then stitched around the outside using crochet cotton. Be careful not to stitch too tightly as your crochet hook needs to fit under the stitches.

Using your crochet hook, single crochet around the outside and join with a slip stitch to the first stitch.

Round 2: [5dc into same stitch, ch2, sk2, sc in next, ch2, sk2] repeat around. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 3: Ch2. [2dc in 1st dc, cd in next 3, 2dc in next (7dc) ch2]repeat around. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 4: [ch2, skip 2 doc, according in next, 5dc in next, skip 2dc, sc in 1st chain] repeat around. Join with a slip stitch.

To crochet the pink frame, I used the same technique up until the sc was completed.

Round 2: [ch6, skip 2, slip stitch into next, ch6, sk2, slip stitch into next stitch] repeat around. Join with a slip stitch.

Round 3: [slip stitch, 1ch, 1sc, 1hdc, 5hdc, 1hdc, 1sc, ch1] repeat around. Join with a slip stitch. Finish off. Pull up loop for hanging.
